Simple Tips For A Sticky Website

How sticky is your website? If you are suffering from a high bounce rate and low time on site statistics, it is likely you have a problem with your stickiness.

The longer you can keep people on your site, the more likely it is they will take the action you want. And, the more likely it is that they will remember your business, and return at a later date.

Here are some simple tips for making your website stickier – and to improve your online performance.

Website users like simplicity. If it takes them more than a minute to find what they are looking for or take action, they will just leave. So, make sure your website is user-friendly in all areas.

Everything from your menus to your checkout system should be easy to navigate and simple to complete. The fewer number of clicks it takes for a user to get to their destination, the better.

Use analytics to find out what your visitors are looking for. For example, SEO Rank Up suggests that web analytics provides a wealth of data for your business to capitalise on. You can drill down into several different areas and find out what people are searching for on your site.

You can also find out where they live, their ages, and a whole lot more. By understanding your visitors, you will be able to work out what will encourage them to stay on your site for longer.

Freshen up your copy

Does your copy sing off the page and entice people to keep reading? A lot of businesses fail in this important area.

They will use incomprehensible business jargon in an attempt to sound professional. But, the reality is that doing this just makes them sound dull and lifeless.

Communicate your ideas in simple and understandable terms, and you will instantly start to keep visitors on your site for longer.

Mix it up

When it comes to content, many businesses go down the blogging route. But is this enough?

The sad fact is that many people don’t have time to read 2-3,000 word articles – or they just don’t want to. But, condensing the vital information into an infographic or video can capture a lot more attention.

And, anything visual is going to encourage people to stick around longer than a scary looking wall of text.

Encourage interaction

Don’t be a faceless blog owner that leaves comments or requests unanswered. The internet is a great medium for interaction. And, responding to blog comments and encouraging debate is a great way to keep people around longer.

Let’s say you write a great article that gets a lot of shares. People will read it, but if there are no interaction opportunities they will go elsewhere. However, if they see a lot of activity in your comments, they will be more likely to contribute. They will stick around longer, and be more active participants.

We hope these tips have helped – let us know how you get on with your new and improved sticky website!
